Awesome the giant snake leather scheme and the face does it justice too. It would be cool (if propperly done) to paint the tip of the spear white-red like the metal was hot.

Hope to see it finished sometime soon.

Cheers.

Becca,
This is looking awesome! The armor shading is great and you have really captured the expression on her face. Can't wait to see the finished product.
I'm bookmarking and can't wait for future updates.

Wow, she's looking really wild and fierce. Great job so far. FWIW I think lava bases might be a little overused, some craggy rocks with petroglyphs on them would look fantastic though. Maybe have her standing on a rocky ledge or cliff - you could do a tall display base to suggest she's overlooking a precipice.

This is what I would imagine her natural habitat to be like:

Becca,
Your fire giant queen is looking freaking fantastic! The face is perfect, and the metallics are spot on. As for the base, I would recommend lava. Simply because she's a fire giant :) Would make the most sense to me. Regardless of what you base her on, she's turning out wonderfully.

Braille? So you would be able to read hidden messages on mini's chainmails and so?

Hope to see that "almost painted" mini soon.

Hero of the World? ...Any musician, painter, sculptor, writer, programmer, filmmaker,toyer... whoever created something that made someone's mind to go away from that world that apparently turns worse everyday. If it's a fact that anyone can improve the world, at least lets thank creative geniuses that keep us entertained while this lasts.

Great base, looks like it has some green and red spiced over the rocks. Is it paint or static grass mixture?

Besides, it's hard to tell what it's supposed to be... looks like a little rag doll to me :P

I want to see your work in progress with this mini. I do agree with your thought, she does have a lot of character and your idea about how to paint her is pretty solid. I'm wondering the most about how your going to give a feminine feel to the fire giant's skin. It should be interesting.

I love her, too, and have been toying with the idea of getting her but keep hearing rousing responses of "HE## NO!" from the hordes of minis I have sitting around waiting to get painted. And now that I'm taking so long on each mini trying to get them just right they all have to wait even longer. Poor things. I can't wait to see what you do with her. Please post WIP's!

If you're doing a video podcast, just being able to watch someone paint is very helpful. I was surprised at how much I learned from just the demo of Rune Kappel's mini paintind cd.

If you are doing audio, then I would like to hear about painting experiences. What went right. What went wrong. What colors were used where, and in what concentrations.

I liked the 1st one but hated dead man's chest. I had the feeling it was boring and a carbon copy of the 1st one except for the locations. Even the Lovecraftesque touch (I love HPL) did feel quite uninspired to me plus the fact it was flagrant there was going to be a 3rd entry in the series (much like the feeling when kill bill 1 ended).

I'm still willing to give it a try to see if it fixes the 2nd movie and offers a nice end (hopefully) to the series.

Decent looking after death? being the "Spaniard" i am, I think that stuff can look nice even after death if I just have had the right amount of beer before looking at it...

Nice minis; the tentacles always add an extra creepynes ala HPLovecraft, like the ethereals in ye olde videogame "Legacy of Kain, soul Reaver"

IMHO the funny part on the udead pieces is the fact you can go wild being messy and gory. The only drewback (SW Geeks unite! =) I see is that gore is easy to overdo and the mini can end up being uninteresting. I've done a couple of cute zombies in the past and they were walking jokes.I'd love to do few more.

I'm still looking for the undead flesh perfect recipe so I'm eager to see you project's skintone!

Besides, I'd like to se at least some WIP pics as a reward for a so text-based post =9

About the geek thing, nowadays here in my country kids and teenagers are alot into manga and videogames but back at the days when I was 8 (80's Transformers comics anyone?) to wear glasses, play videogames and read comics-play magic magic or RPG was considered freaky not geeky so I grew up considering not being proud of certain having that sort of stigmata that makes me to buy a $100+ cold cast porcelain limited Batman statue or die. Seriously that always made me feel more like a crack whQre than a kewl guy =D

Decent looking after death? being the “Spaniard” i am, I think that stuff can look nice even after death if I just have had the right amount of beer before looking at it…

Nice minis; the tentacles always add an extra creepynes ala HPLovecraft, like the ethereals in ye olde videogame “Legacy of Kain, soul Reaver”

IMHO the funny part on the udead pieces is the fact you can go wild being messy and gory. The only drewback (SW Geeks unite! =) I see is that gore is easy to overdo and the mini can end up being uninteresting. I’ve done a couple of cute zombies in the past and they were walking jokes.I’d love to do few more.

Rackham's been an arty company from the start, offering a range of viewtiful minis. I hope this won't change over time. Nice studio colors.

2 advices:

I strongly recommend you to visit Egypt. If able, with parents or boyfriend or husband. I'm not telling Islamic guys are gonna trade you for some camels if you go alone but the more you go the merrier :)

Quit Magic and start playing munchkin ;) OR Call of Cthulhu (nice egyptian background) or even better, MUNCHKINTHULHU!!

I usually check your pieces at CMoN ( along with Treide's, NSA's and Supervike ones ). It's nice to see pieces that people've enjoyed painting not just gaming and auctioning stuff. Keep the good stuff coming. Cheers!

Yeah, I have such a bigmouth for an usually quiet and unoticeable fellow :)

Holy cow! That base is funk-tastique! Kinda reminds me the sea waves on traditional japanese artwork (like in the opening of Toho movies where the water splashes a rock. Way cooler than WarnerBros') I'd give a it 10 solely for the base style. Plus he's cute!

OK, I'm not sure what the mini is, but it's neat. The base however... is fantastic! The mossy/weedy rocks and water are really convincing!
